On Nov. 25, 2020, Millville Engine 34, Ladder 32, Rescue 34, and Squad 30 were dispatched to 509 Sassafras St. for a reported dwelling fire. Units responding were advised that the caller reported smoke coming from the eaves of the adjacent duplex. Engine 34 arrived with a heavy smoke in the residence, but negative fire showing. Interior crews found the source of the smoke to be unattended cooking, and placed the situation under control. Units remained on scene for some time, removing the smoke from the dwelling. Millville PD also assisted at the scene.
