On July 23, 2011 the Iron and Steel Run, which carried a piece of The World Trade Center, passed through Salem County on its way from New York City to Baltimore MD. Units set up on the rt 295 over passes with flags and staged apparatus on the X ramp at the base of the Delaware Memorial Bridge to welcome it as it passed through the county. The piece was escorted by hundreds of motorcycles as it made its way to Baltimore.
